Andrew Petter

I am a lifelong United Methodist, baptized at First UMC in Gulfport, MIssissippi, and confirmed at First UMC in Pleasanton, Texas, a small town in South Texas where I grew up and graduated from high school. My previous career as a research geologist led me to a job at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. It was while living there that I heard God call me to pastoral ministry. I graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, a UM-affiliated seminary, this past May with a Master of Divinity degree. Wesley UMC is my first solo pastoral appointment; previously I served part-time as a student intern pastor at Morgan Park UMC in southwest Chicago.

God is calling all of us at Wesley UMC to proclaim the good news of God’s love as revealed through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our community, our nation, and our world cry out for good news. My vision for this congregation is as a people renewed by God’s love and eager to share this gift of new life with others in our community. It’s time for a new spirit of evangelism and revival worthy of our great Wesleyan heritage. My goal is to guide each of you to develop your unique, God-given gifts for these tasks. You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world. Let your light shine!

Visiting Ministry

Jean Flynn

Wesley UMC is pleased to have Jeannie Flynn who was appointed our minister of visitation for the church in March of 2014.  She has had extensive experience in the ministries of the church serving in many capacities throughout the years.  Her infectious smile and sparkling personality coupled with her deep faith have given her the special gifts for this ministry of our shut-ins and the elderly.

She notes in her biography that she was born and raised in Hibbing being baptized and confirmed at Wesley United Methodist Church. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Flynn, at Wesley UMC in 1974.  She has worked as the Wesley UMC church secretary and parish worker for 17 years. Jean and Bob were also the youth group directors, counselors at Northern Pines Camp in Park Rapids and served on the camp board. They have two children who were raised at Wesley United Methodist Churchand were baptized, confirmed and married here.

Jean serves approximately 8-10 hours each week and can be reached through the church office (218-263-3653).
